About the Artist

Hi, my name is Aya Sophie.

I create art out of a deep need for peace — not just around me, but within.

What began as a way to protect my health and make my home more breathable

slowly became a quiet, healing language of color and texture.

I work with diatomaceous earth stucco — a natural material that helps

clean the air, regulate moisture, and gently support the environment.

Creating with it reminds me that restoration often starts invisibly, from the inside out.

Having lived in different countries and cultures, I’m drawn to quiet contrasts —

the meeting place between the old and new, raw and refined, stillness and movement.

Spiritually, I’m learning to rest in grace rather than strive for approval.
My art reflects this unfolding trust — that even fragile things can become whole again, gently and honestly.

周りの環境だけでなく、自分の内側にも平安の必要性を感じて、アートをつくり始めました

もともとは健康を守り、呼吸しやすい住まいを整えるための工夫でしたが、

それがやがて、色と質感を使った静かで癒しのある表現へと変わっていきました

作品には、珪藻土という自然素材を使っています

空気をきれいにし、湿度を調整し、環境にもやさしいこの素材は

「癒しは内側から、目に見えないところから始まる」ということを思い出させてくれます

さまざまな国や文化の中で暮らしてきたので、古いものと新しいもの

荒々しさと繊細さ、静けさと動きが交差するような「静かな対比」に心惹かれます

「認められるために頑張る」のではなく、「ただ恵みに委ねて休む」ことを学びつつあります

アートに、その信頼が少しずつ表現されています

壊れたものも、やさしく、正直に、もう一度ひとつにされていくことができる――そんな思いを込めて描いています
