A Morning Without A/C

Yesterday morning, I realized something kind of amazing—I didn’t need to turn on the air conditioner, even though it’s been record-breakingly hot lately. I was sitting in my room, quietly starting my day, and the space just felt... safe, cool, and still.

I really think it’s the diatomaceous stucco that’s making the difference. Ever since I started covering my art panels with it, I’ve noticed how the environment around me has shifted. The air feels better, the temperature more stable—even in heat like this. It’s not just a material I work with anymore; it’s part of the life of this home. And every time I notice something like this, I feel quietly grateful. It reminds me that healing doesn’t always come in dramatic ways. Sometimes, it’s just the gift of being able to breathe and feel at ease.

エアコンなしの朝

昨日の朝、ちょっとした発見がありました。最近は記録的な猛暑が続いているのに、エアコンをつけずに部屋で過ごせたのです。静かな気持ちで一日を始めていた時、ふと「部屋が安心できる空間になっている」と気づきました。涼しくて、落ち着いていて、心地よい。

この違いは、やっぱり漆喰（しっくい）のおかげだと思います。作品に珪藻土漆喰を使うようになってから、部屋の空気や温度が本当に変わってきました。暑い日でも室内が安定していて、呼吸がしやすく、体もラク。今では、ただの素材ではなく、この家の空気の一部になっている気がします。

こういう小さな気づきがあるたびに、静かに感謝の気持ちが湧いてきます。癒しって、大きなことじゃなくてもいい。ただ、呼吸ができて、安心して過ごせること。それだけで、十分ありがたいんだなと改めて思いました。
